Next shipping giant withdraws from Red Sea – World Trade

Recent attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on freighters in the Red Sea are increasingly having an impact on the security of international shipping in the waters there and around Yemen’s southern coast. Important routes run there between Africa and Asia and via the Suez Canal at the northern end of the Red Sea to and from Europe. The connection is also central for oil transport.
