In the night from Thursday to Friday, the time has finally come: At 2:20 a.m. German time, the Kansas City Chiefs meet the Detroit Lions and open the 2023/24 NFL season.
RTL as a new free TV partner, an expanded rights package for DAZN and changes to the game pass: there is a lot going on for fans who want to follow the NFL in Germany for the coming season. Where can you see which games? How many games come on free TV? How much do the different subscriptions cost? We answer the most important questions before the season opens.
Who will broadcast the NFL 2023 on free TV?
The NFL will run on RTL for the first time in the 2023 season. The broadcaster has the free TV rights for the German market from the draft in April. The era of ranNFL at ProSieben is over. The contract between RTL and the NFL is initially valid for five seasons, i.e. until the Super Bowl 2028.
Who is broadcasting the NFL 2023 in the live stream?
There are several options for receiving NFL games in the live stream in the coming season. This is how DAZN increased its NFL rights package. RTL also broadcasts games on its streaming service RTL+. There is one change to the NFL Gamepass: in future it will only be available via DAZN.
NFL Season Opener: Where do you see Chiefs vs. Lions?
The first game of the 2023/24 NFL season will be broadcast live on DAZN and RTL+ as well as on free TV on RTL. On RTL and RTL+, the transmission starts at 1:40 a.m. Before that, RTL will show the documentary “American Football – Made in Germany: Against All Resistance” from 12:45 a.m., which deals with German NFL players.
