The Dallas Cowboys’ start to the season proved to be very costly. In addition to suffering a 19-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Cowboys lost the services of quarterback Dak Prescott in 4e quart.

With just under seven minutes left in the game, Prescott’s right hand was hit on contact with Shaquil Barrett after kicking the ball. The Cowboys quarterback returned to the locker room a few moments later, visibly inconvenienced.

After the game, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Prescott was going to need thumb surgery on his right hand and would miss several weeks of activity.

“We will lose him for several weeks. We’ll see how many weeks he’ll be away […]. He has an injury above his right thumb joint that is going to require surgery,” Jones explained.

Prescott had a tough game before returning to the locker room, when he completed just 14 passes for 134 yards. He was also the victim of an interception.

In the Bucs camp, Tom Brady was true to himself to launch his 23e season in the NFL. He amassed 212 yards through the air in addition to completing 18 passes and throwing a touchdown pass. At 3e quart, Brady joined his prime target Mike Evans on five yards for the major.

He became the second player in NFL history to throw a touchdown pass aged 45 or older. The only other to have achieved this feat of arms is George Blanda, at 47 years old.

Brady still boasts a perfect record of seven wins and no losses in his career against the Cowboys.

Tampa’s offense also benefited from the brilliance of running back Leonard Fournette, who rushed for 127 yards.

Before the offense finally scored its first touchdown of the season, the Buccaneers were able to count on the excellence of their kicker Ryan Succop. He made four field goals, the longest of which was 47 yards, to give Tampa a 12-3 lead halfway through the game.

Mike Evans with one hand please!
