Since the end of the regular season, it has been clear who will be able to pick the top positions in the 2023 NFL Draft. With the Super Bowl, the order up to rank 32 is fixed. The “First Overall Pick” belongs to the Chicago Bears for the first time since 1947.

The Bears owe the Houston Texans the fact that they have free choice in the draft in Kansas City (April 27th to 29th, 2023). They won their final duel against the Indianapolis Colts in the dramatic final sprint with 32:31 and therefore “only” draft on 2.
A parting gift from head coach Lovie Smith, who was fired the day after the Texans game and is a former Bears coach (2004 to 2012). Houston already had a top 5 pick in the last draft. In 2022, the Texans picked cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. 3rd. It will be exciting to see what Chicago does with the “First Overall Pick” in the end. After all, they have a strong quarterback in Justin Fields that they also want to hold on to. Will there be a trade with another team?
In the meantime, people are happy about high picks due to the poor performance of former trade partners in Seattle and Detroit.
The Seahawks, who were the last team to get their playoff ticket but were eliminated by the San Francisco 49ers, draft at 5 with one of the picks they got in the expensive trade for Russell Wilson. Regular also at 20.
The Lions, who made Seattle’s play-off participation possible by defeating the Green Bay Packers, follow at 6. They once received the pick from the Los Angeles Rams for quarterback Matthew Stafford. Detroit also regularly has pick #18.
With the Super Bowl LVII (57) between the slightly inferior Philadelphia Eagles and the victorious Kansas City Chiefs (35:38), which took place in Glendale, Arizona on the night of February 12th to 13th, the complete draft order then became finalized. The successful team from the US state of Missouri, trained by Andy Reid and led by star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, will be on 32.
