Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. will report to camp on Monday.
He accepted the contract that comes with the franchise player tag after the two sides failed to reach a long-term agreement by the July 15 deadline.
The Chiefs’ final offer was $139 million for six years, including a $30.25 million signing bonus. It was the fact of not having a guaranteed sum of money after the first two years of the contract that would have derailed the negotiations.
Brown will now pocket $16.62 million as a franchise player, which is the average top-5 salary at his position.
He started every game for the Chiefs as a starter last season and was selected to the Pro Bowl for the third straight time.
