The 72nd Miss Universe crown was won by Nicaraguan beauty Shenise Placios.
Shenise Placios won the title after competing for the title of Miss Universe 2018, which was contested by contestants from 90 countries.
Shenice Placios is the first Miss Universe winner from Nicaragua.
Thailand’s Antonia Porslid finished second and Australia’s Moraya Wilson third.
India’s Shweta Sharda made it to the last 20 but was eliminated. Erica Robin from Pakistan also made it to the last 20 for the first time.

Shenise said during the competition that she chose the field of mental health because of the life pressures she had to face when she was a college student and took on the responsibility of taking care of her younger brother and grandmother when her business failed and her mother left the country.
