Nick de Vries says he will aim for a top-five finish with AlphaTauri F1, which will make its F1 debut in 2023.
2022 was a tough season for AlphaTauri F1, finishing 9th in the constructors’ ranking. Nick de Vries, who will replace Pierre Gasly, is confident of AlphaTauri F1’s success in 2023.
“The team finished ninth last year. I’m definitely not happy with that. We used to finish in the top five a lot, but it wasn’t a very good year,” said Nick de Vries.
“So we want to make as much progress as possible this winter. The car will determine if the top five is realistic.”
Nick de Vries admits that not only his work ethic played an important role in making his F1 dream a reality, but his family also played an important role. I have supported him over the years to do this.
But de Vries said he was sure his family would have continued to support him even if he missed F1.
“Guilt is not the right word. I think they were always proud of me,” de Vries stressed.
“It’s really great right now. I’m grateful to be able to give back to everyone who gave me so much time. There were a lot of people who didn’t believe it. But we didn’t give up.”
