The Nigerien authorities announced that they had obtained, on March 20, 2023, the release of two hostages from the JNIM (Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin – Support Group for Islam and Muslims). They are the French journalist Olivier Dubois, kidnapped on April 8, 2021 in Gao (Mali), and the American humanitarian Jeffery Woodke, kidnapped on October 14, 2016 in Abalak (Niger). The two hostages of the terrorist organization JNIM were released thanks to the “efforts” of the Nigerien authorities, according to the Minister of the Interior.
