Night Shift Playlist: Songs About Missing Someone

Sinisa Mihajlovicthe thoughts and words revealed when it was hospitalizedhospital Sant’Orsola di Bologna for the leukemia which unfortunately led him to death.

Sinisa wanted to tell the great love that overwhelmed him when he met his wife, of how he wanted to be a father present despite the commitments and how long he was alone at night, when the bad thoughts hunted him and listened to his favorite songs: “Fighter” by Fiorella Mannoia, “I met the pain” by Roberto Vecchioni and a Serbian song.

The words revealed by the daughter

R. (so he calls it Victoria, Figlia di Mihajlovic who shared what is written) is a nurse of the Sant’Orsola who took care of the “coach” in his hospitalization due to the leukemia that had hit him.

The nurse is addressed directly to Viktorija with the need to share private moments that he spent with his dad and that nobody had ever told before: “I am doing the night in the hospital – he writes – and I hope he does not bother you too much, but I’ll tell you hoping that they can make you smile”. The nurse revives the strong and frank character of Sinisa through its memory “with a particular way of saying things […] without fear ». He admits that so much frankness could sometimes disappear and frighten the interlocutor, but also that he immediately warned who had in front of him: «Perhaps by paternal instinct – continues R. – he asked me if I was tired, if I had returned by bus, if I had eaten. He always asked me how the air was out, that was something he missed so much ». The memories of the nurse who assisted the coach having to spend a lot of time in the room with Sinisa, the infirmary remembers having often witnessed the family phone calls made with the speakerphone, who made it involuntarily participating in the daily life of that allegro and united clan which is the Mihajlović and how “sini” was happy to be grandfather and vitia Virginia, as he had not been able to do with his children.

The story and tears

The story continues and becomes more and more intimate and touching when he remembers the evening in which he wanted to confide how he discovered the disease: “To your mother he said it only after having had the diagnosis – continues to always turn to Viktorija – saying it on the phone because he did not know how to say the lies and then it was easier than telling him by looking at it”. R explains how a strong man like him was not afraid to show his fragility and how the “relapse” had deeply disheartened by knowing about how much pain should have passed again, taking away a little bit of that innate determination that he had and also making hope fail.
