You know the little habit of Monday evening: the NBA reveals its players of the week in the West as in the East and today, Nikola Jokic and Donovan Mitchell steal the show from everyone. Finally “fly”, a way of speaking huh, because the two were really a hit.
The double MVP Nikola Jokic started his season by trotting but that’s it, the Colorado monster has regained its standards: 36 points on average over the week, 17.3 rebounds, 8.7 assists, 3.7 interceptions (6 turnovers certainly), all at 62.3% shooting and almost 81% from the free throw line. The figures are completely crazy, the Joker remaining in particular on a mind-blowing performance against the Hornets yesterday (40 points, 27 rebounds, 10 caviars). Suffice to say that Niko is well back at his top level and at the same time in the race for the MVP, the Nuggets having won 8 of their last 12 games (two out of three last week) under the impetus of the rise in power by Jokic.
In the Eastern Conference, it is therefore Donovan Mitchell who takes the lead, he who thus confirms his very big start to the season: 32 points on average, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 54% in shooting including 42.5% at 3 -points and 88% in free throws, in other words it’s pretty clean. After two games away ten days ago, Donovan started again to guide the Cavaliers to three wins in four games, Mitchell notably dropping a card at 41 points against the Pacers on Friday. At the time of writing, Cleveland is still squatting on the Eastern Conference podium (20 wins – 11 losses) behind the Milwaukee – Boston tandem, and given Spida’s current level, it’s not about to change.
Other nominees include Anthony Edwards, LeBron James and Damian Lillard in the West, as well as Paolo Banchero, Tyler Herro and the two hottest duos in New York (Jalen Brunson – Julius Randle, Kevin Durant – Kyrie Irving) in the East.
