Nikon releases NX MobileAir 1.1.1 | software

Nikon has released an update for the NX MobileAir smartphone app used by professional photographers. The tool allows Nikon photographers to upload their images to an FTP server without going through a computer. Only the mobile device has to be connected to the camera via a USB cable.

The update includes new features such as a deep learning algorithm for image analysis. This makes it possible to quickly filter images according to certain criteria such as subject and shooting conditions. Image size and JPEG compression rate can now also be adjusted when uploading to an FTP server, which should speed up the upload and streamline the entire workflow from capture to delivery.

Nikon has also expanded the import of NEF (RAW) images. Images stored in already supported formats on the camera or on smart devices can now be imported into albums in the NX MobileAir app. Other new features include additions to the custom IPTC metadata presets and a feature that prevents images previously deleted from the app from being re-imported. Optimizations in operation and display, including when importing images, should make the app more user-friendly. A function has also been added to sync camera and smart device clocks.
