Nikos Michaloliakos is released voluntarily – What are the restrictive conditions? – 2024-05-05 00:16:29

Nikos Michaloliakos, the man convicted of running the Golden Dawn criminal organization, is being released from prison with restrictive conditions.

The Council of Criminals of Lamia decided of its own volition to release Nikos Michaloliakos, the former leader of the Golden Dawn criminal organization, on parole.

This development comes as Nikos Michaloliakos has completed 3/5 of the 13-year sentence imposed on him by the Three-member Criminal Appeal Court of Athens for running a criminal organization.

The Council of Misdemeanors imposes on Nikos Michaloliakos a ban on leaving the P.E. Attica, of appearing in the AT of place of residence once a month and not associating with co-accused for the specific criminal case for which he was detained.

However, the prosecutor recommended to the judicial council that Nikos Michaloliakos remain in prison, assessing the applicant’s lack of remorse and moral improvement, quoting an extensive article in which he appears unrepentant and states that he is incarcerated in the context of political persecution and conspiracy.

His proposal, however, was not accepted by the judicial council which states that any doubts that may arise in the person of the applicant about the essential conditions, should work in his favor.

Based on the legislation, there is the possibility of an appeal.
