Investigators conducted searches Sunday in the French region of Alsace in hotel rooms and vehicles of twelve German and American suspects, aged 36 to 74. Other descents were carried out in several German states, including Lower Saxony, Berlin, Brandenburg and Thuringia. Five other suspects were found in their home in Germany. All were released after the police investigation.

One hundred French agents and 200 German agents took part in the action. Various objects, mainly hard drives, were discovered. During an initial investigation of smartphones, tablets and laptops, data was found indicating the possession of images of sexual violence against children.
Some suspects have already made partial confessions and accused each other. Investigators believe that no children or young people have been put in danger so far.
The public prosecutor and the police said they had dealt a blow to a pedophile network that had been active for years.
