Nineteenth case of poliomyelitis in Pakistan

Au Pakistana case of poliomyelitis involving the poliovirus wild type 1 (PVS1) was reported in a six-month-old boy from the district of Waziristan du Sudprovince Khyber-Pakhtunkhwawhich began to be paralyzed on August 22,.

This is the 19th case recorded in Pakistan this year, including two children from the district of Lakki Marwat16 children from the district of Nord-Waziristan and a child from the district of Waziristan du Sud. This is the first case from South Waziristan this year. Prior to this, a child was paralyzed in the district in June 2020.
