The Japanese manufacturer is hunting for clips on the internet. Nintendo is seeking to remove videos showing little flowers calling out to players to “fuck you” in the latest Mario game.

Little flowers that talk. This is one of the new features of the game Super Mario Bros Wonder, from Nintendo. During the journey through the different levels by the famous plumber, these decorative elements launch responses depending on the context or react to the player’s actions. A new humorous twist, this addition nevertheless already causes a first slip-up.

The reason? A flower in particular, which did not have a good word when the player passed but was content with an insult: “fuck you” (“fuck you” in French). This is actually a montage made by the YouTuber and modder (game modifier) Contendo. Specializing in memes from Nintendo licenses, he made his video of the insulting flower the day after the game’s release, on October 21.

A hunt for content by Nintendo

Originally, the flower in question is not common. Especially since it is the first one that the player encounters in the game. In the real version of the title, it simply explains in which direction the player must go: “onward and upward” (translated by “vers l’avant et to the top”). In French, the flower just says “it’s gone”.

But since the publication of its video, Nintendo has embarked on a hunt for content, says the specialized media Polygon. First on Twitter, the clip was deleted. The same was true for the player’s YouTube post. Now the platform indicates that the video is not available. A message states that this is due to a request from Nintendo for copyright infringement.

However, this does not prevent these new elements of the game from being popular on social networks. On Tiktok, videos are multiplying to reveal the funniest, or most embarrassing, lines of talking flowers.
