Another financial quarter has come to an end for Nintendo, the first of this fiscal year, and while we are used to seeing records broken in recent years thanks to the resounding success of the Nintendo Switch, we have clearly reached a period much quieter console life, even as games continue to sell out. As usual, you will be able to find a complete and detailed analysis of this information via the page Twitter d’Oscar Lemaire.

The post-COVID period is clearly felt with turnover down 5% compared to last year and a 15% drop in operating profit. 3.43 million Nintendo Switch were sold this quarter, a decrease of almost a quarter compared to the same period last year. Of that number, 1.52 million, almost half, were Nintendo Switch OLEDs, compared to 1.32 million classic Nintendo Switch and 590,000 Nintendo Switch Lite. This brings us to a park of 111.08 million consoles since its release in March 2017.

41.41 million games were sold in the period from April to June 2022, which is again a decrease of 9% compared to last year. The decline is especially felt in the United States, which is going through a troubled period for the entertainment sectors, which are all suffering for the moment. In terms of this quarter’s releases, the big winner is clearly Nintendo Switch Sports who passed 4,84 millions of copies, a very good performance for the game which, if it will never reach the heights of Wii Sportscan claim a very honorable performance. Mario Strikers Battle League is not outdone, even if on a smaller scale, since by selling 1,91 millions of games, it achieves the best start in the history of Mario games of the Sport type, and is thus very close to becoming the best-selling episode of the series (which is for the moment Mario Strikers: Charged Football on Wii with 2.57 millions). Finally, special mention to Kirby and the Forgotten Worldreleased last March, which broke records by reaching 4,53 millions and is on track to become the best-selling episode of the series, which is for now Kirby’s Dream Land on NES, the very first opus, with 5,13 millions.
