While waiting for the official announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, the Japanese manufacturer is providing some clues about its future console, thanks to a new patent published this month.

Nintendo knows how to make itself desired. While the Nintendo Switch celebrated its sixth anniversary last March, players are impatiently awaiting the arrival of a new, more powerful hybrid console. And although many rumors have already appeared on the web, Big N has still not officially revealed its next console.

Thus, in the absence of a real announcement, we must therefore look to the side of technological patents to hope to know more about the Nintendo Switch 2. Moreover, this week, a new document from the Japanese firm (filed in 2022) has been published. The opportunity for us to discover some clues about the possible appearance of the brand’s future console.

However, this choice would be surprising when we know to what extent the Joy-Con played a major role in the success of the first Nintendo Switch. It would therefore be more likely that it is above all a patent intended for a new Switch Lite, the latter already working without Nintendo’s detachable controllers.

Aside from these strange buttons on the front of the console, the patent also allows us to discover some interesting features. Starting with the Home key, which moves from the upper edge of the console to the lower edge. Furthermore, in addition to the presence of a Jack port, we notice that the insert for cartridges is still available, which means that Nintendo does not intend to abandon physical game releases in favor of digital.

However, it is important to specify that these patents do not bind Nintendo in any way and serve above all to protect the ideas of the brand. So, nothing says that the final result will resemble what we can currently see
