YOKOHAMA, Japan – The Nissan Formula E Team wants to build on its recent good performance to continue growing in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, which now heads to Portland, USA, the fourth and final debut host city of this season 9.

The team demonstrated its full potential in the last round, with Sacha Fenestraz and Norman Nato finishing 4th and 5th respectively in the second round of the double round of the Jakarta E-Prix. Now, the campaign is reaching its final stages and the driver duo will work to build on this result and ensure a strong finish to the current season.

In this last single round of Season 9, Formula E will be racing for the fourth time in a city in the United States, after having already held tests in Miami, Long Beach and New York, in previous seasons. With 12 curves spread over its 3.19 km, the Portland International Raceway it has long straights to enter turns 1 and 10, where the best overtaking spots are.

In this E-Prix, both Nissan cars will bear the expedition logo Field is Field and explorers Chris and Julie Ramsey scheduled a stop in Portland. The adventurous couple is taking a long 9-month journey from the North Magnetic Pole to the South Pole, aboard the 100% electric vehicle Nissan Ariya. They will visit the racing team in the pits and meet with the drivers before continuing on with their adventure.

Furthermore, amid preparations for this weekend’s race, the Nissan Formula E Team has also launched a new urban fashion collection (streetwear), made from Nissan racing uniforms used decades ago, called NISMO Thrifted. Created by sustainable fashion designer Mia D’Amato, the collection is inspired by Nissan’s commitment to sustainability and carbon neutrality by 2050, with the aim of demonstrating how we can contribute in many ways to a zero-waste future.

Qualifying starts at 4:40 pm (Brasília time) and the start of the E-Prix will be at 9 pm. Know how to watch here.

Tommaso Volpe, General Manager and Head of the Nissan Formula E Team:

“In Formula E, it is very difficult to have consistency, but logically we want to repeat the performance we presented in the second round in Jakarta. The race in Portland will be very interesting as it will not be held on a street circuit. We must have high top speeds and a lot of energy management, so strategy will be extremely important. It will be a challenge to configure the car to suit this layout and we are looking for the best way to be both fast and efficient at this circuit. It’s fantastic that Formula E is racing in the US as this is a huge market for Nissan and it’s a country that loves motorsports so we look forward to putting on a great show for the fans!”

Sacha Fenestraz, Nissan Formula E Team driver:

“I’m really looking forward to racing in Portland. As it will be another new host city, the level of competition is more homogeneous, as no one on the grid has raced on this circuit before. We have come very close to the podium in the last few races and that shows that we have a strong team and car behind our results. I think the race should be similar to Monaco and Berlin, so leading the race might not be the best strategy. We are very motivated after the result in Jakarta and have been working hard ever since to improve further. It’s going to be really cool to race in the States, the fans and the whole event atmosphere are always amazing there, so I’m really excited for the race”.

Norman Nato, Nissan Formula E Team driver:

“We are coming to Portland with the hope of continuing to deliver the pace we delivered in the second round of the Jakarta E-Prix. This is not going to be a traditional street circuit, so we will have to change our driving style. There will probably be more grip, so it will be interesting in terms of energy savings, maybe the most strategic race this year. It looks like the layout is going to be quite fast, with some overtaking opportunities thanks to the long straights and the width of the track, especially at turns 1, 7 and 10.”

Luca Ghiotto, Nissan Formula E Team simulator driver:

“Portland will be an E-Prix like no other on the Formula E calendar as it is the only permanent circuit for the season. The track is very fast, there are many straights and only 12 curves. It will be cool to overtake and it will be interesting to see during the race how the drivers will manage their energy to stay in the fight until the end. I think this track will suit our car, we’ve been strong in the medium and high speed corners all season, so it’s going to be a good opportunity to get a positive result.”
