Now the Burgenland governor Doskozil has been elected SPÖ chairman. It is interesting that he immediately announced (or had to announce?) that he did not want to form a coalition with the FPÖ, and if possible not with the ÖVP either. This expresses a very poor understanding of democracy, because the electorate decides.
All democratically and constitutionally legitimized parties must not be fundamentally excluded from the outset and excluded from democratic processes, but concrete consultations and negotiations on program and government ideas should first take place. Only then can you refuse. This is very disappointing and probably a political “own goal”.
