No Extortion Messages Sent Despite 20+ Attacks on Venue Operators, Police Say

Despite more than 20 attacks since February, no explicit extortion message has been sent to the venue operators, according to police and underworld sources.

Police in Sydney confirmed that the incidents, which include arson and property damage, have occurred at multiple locations across the city’s entertainment district since February. Investigators say the pattern suggests a coordinated campaign, though the motive remains unclear.

Underworld sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, told investigators that the attacks appear to be linked to a dispute over control of late-night venues, but no ransom demand or extortion note has been delivered to any business owner.

Venue operators have reported increased security costs and disruptions to operations, with some establishments temporarily closing following incidents. Police have increased patrols in the affected areas and are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses.

The New South Wales Police Force has established a dedicated task force to investigate the series of attacks, coordinating with local councils and business associations to gather intelligence.

As of the latest update, no arrests have been made in connection with the incidents, and authorities continue to appeal for information from the public.
