No injuries: wagon at Semmering derailed: southern railway closed

A freight train wagon derailed on Thursday morning on the southern railway line in the Lower Austrian-Styrian border area. The car jumped at 9.31 a.m. at Semmering station (Neunkirchen district) with all axles off the rails, ÖBB said on request. Nobody got hurt. A rail replacement service was set up between Gloggnitz and Mürzzuschlag for long-distance connections and between Breitenstein am Semmering and Mürzzuschlag station for regional traffic. From the evening hours, the railway line was passable once more with delays.

The cause of the derailment was initially unknown, according to ÖBB. An auxiliary train was requested for the evacuation.
