According to the union, the employers’ final offer amounted to 6.25 percent of the actual salary amount and 7.25 percent of the collective bargaining agreement minimum salaries. The basis for negotiations is the average annual inflation of the past year of 7.75 percent.

“The current offer is still inadequate and is well below the underlying annual inflation. The union is now calling on employees to take part in a protest rally in front of the Chamber of Commerce in Vienna on January 24th. The Chamber of Commerce does not assume that there will be a call for a strike; the next negotiation date is scheduled for January 25th.

Negotiations in the industry were also tough last year: Finally, in January 2023, several hundred employees protested in Linz’s Schillerpark, and an agreement was reached on January 30th. This KV was concluded for an unlimited period and therefore continues to apply.
