No Multiplayer For Cyberpunk 2077

We suspected it a little but it’s now official: Cyberpunk 2077 will not receive a multiplayer mode. It is Philipp Weber, narrative director at CD Projekt, who confirms the information in an interview with our colleagues from Eurogamer. The reason is quite simple. Following the rather chaotic launch, the studio’s priorities have changed:

“We really had to study what the priorities were for Cyberpunk [après son lancement]. The priority was for the core experience to run for players in excellent condition. And essentially, the shift in priorities meant that other R&D projects had to be dropped. »

Our colleagues from Bluesnews pretty much sums up the timeline. In 2013, it was announced that the game would be multiplayer. Then, in 2019/2020that the mode would arrive in an update following 2021. In the last news, CD Projekt “reconsidered this plan”. Anyway, at least it’s now official.
