No SIM needed: WhatsApp has a new login method

About it informs WABetaInfo portal. WhatsApp now requires you to enter a 6-digit code before logging in. It can be obtained from SMS or by the number of an incoming call. Now there is a third way.

It will come in handy when you transfer your account to another device, or want to have WhatsApp on two smartphones at once. Now, when you first log in, you can receive a confirmation code from a push notification that will be sent to a device with an already authorized account.

This means that you will no longer need a SIM card to sign in. Note that new WhatsApp users will still have to link their phone number.

The feature is currently in beta for Android. Experts note that the innovation will appear in the next updates. iPhone owners will have to wait even longer.
