North Kivu: Towards the validation of the mandates of 30 provincial elected officials

Goma, February 28, 2024- The provincial deputies of North Kivu of the third legislature responded to the plenary session of this Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in the conference room of the BDGL, located in the heart of the city of Goma.

For this session, it was a question of examining the calendar of subjects for the extraordinary session of February 2024; the constitution of ad hoc commissions responsible for verifying and validating the powers of provincial elected officials.

During this session, four (4) commissions were established to verify the files and validate the mandate of 30 recently elected and proclaimed by the CENI.

Speaking to the Press, the president of the age office of the Provincial Assembly of North Kivu returned to the extraordinary session and the summary of the matters dealt with during the plenary session.

According to him, after elections in the territories of Rutshuru and Masisi, a special plenary will be organized to validate the mandate of these 14 elected officials who will be able to complete the deliberative body.

“Today’s activity was the adoption of the agenda, the matter to be dealt with during the extraordinary session. In principle, when the deputies of these two territories are elected, there will be a special plenary. We will also validate their mandate. After this extraordinary session, in accordance with the texts, the deputies will go on leave. They will leave on leave when our brothers from Masisi and Rutshuru are already represented,” explained Kambale Nzughundi Daniel, President of the age office.

Note that the Provincial Assembly will have 48 deputies with 4 traditional chiefs who will be co-opted.
