North Korean leader Kim Jong Un introduced a new song entitled “Friendly Father”, which praises a friendly father figure and a great leader. This song was first played at the inauguration ceremony for the construction of 10,000 new houses in a district in the capital city of Pyongyang, on Tuesday (16/4/2024).

During the ceremony, Kim Jong Un arrived in an armored limousine and was greeted enthusiastically by a cheering crowd. Appearing wearing a shiny black leather jacket, he waved and smiled at the enthusiastic crowd.

On top of one of the new buildings prepared for the event, Kim Jong Un sat with top North Korean officials while the song “Friendly Father” was sung by national singers accompanied by an orchestra. Fireworks and aerial displays by the Korean People’s Army Air Force also enlivened the ceremony.

The music video for Kim Jong Un’s new song aired on Korean Central Television (KCTV), featuring North Koreans from various backgrounds singing the song passionately. In the video, Kim Jong Un is seen enjoying the admiration of his troops and people who are enthusiastically waving flags.

This fast-paced song, which is full of praise, includes lyrics such as “Let’s sing, Kim Jong Un is a great leader” and “Let’s show off about Kim Jong Un, a kind father.”

The ceremony was also an important moment in the new home construction project which was carried out in record time, as part of Kim Jong Un’s promise to build 50,000 new apartments in the capital in five years. These modern homes were used to reward Pyongyang’s elite.
