If you missed the spectacle that was offered to you in certain regions on the night of Sunday to Monday, know that there will be a new opportunity to see the Northern Lights on Tuesday.

And bref:

Northern lights could be seen early Tuesday evening;

The ideal location is western Quebec;

Fall is the season to see them.

Early evening

This Tuesday, conditions will still be favorable for the Northern Lights. The KP index will indeed be 5.67 at the start of the evening. The ideal time to try to see them will therefore be after sunset.

Western Quebec

Now that we know the ideal time to observe the phenomenon, what about the location? With snowy and rainy weather in the majority of the province on Tuesday, unfortunately not all areas will be able to see it. According to current forecasts, western Quebec will be the most spoiled, since there should be clear skies. If you live near the border areas with Ontario, or in the towns of Rouyn-Noranda and Matagami, you might be able to see them.

The ideal conditions

Remember that to have the chance to see the Northern Lights, you have to go north, get your eyes used to the darkness and move away from urban centers. “Astronomical winter is the best time to observe the Northern Lights. We have more darkness than in summer, so more time to see it,” explains Alexandra Giroux, meteorologist.
