The Norwegian is heading for victory on the East Lake course in Atlanta.

Norway’s Viktor Hovland, seemingly impervious to the intense heat and storm, took a six-stroke lead in the Tour Championship on Saturday after the third round at the end of the PGA Tour season.

The 25-year-old golfer returned a card of 66, four strokes under par and posted -20 after 54 holes of the East Lake course in Atlanta, followed by a distance by the American Xander Schauffele, at -14.

The Tour Championship is the third event of the FedEx Cup, a triptych that also includes the St. Jude Championship, won by American Lucas Glover, and the BMW Championship, won by Hovland.

The key to this competition: a prize of 18 million dollars.

Neither the intense heat of 37.7°C nor his rivals could slow down the Norwegian world No.5, author of five birdies and a single bogey. Nor was the storm that interrupted the route for 75 minutes.

Americans Collin Morikawa and Keegan Bradley share third place at -13, while Augusta Masters winner Jon Rahm shares fifth place (-11) with world No.1 Scottie Scheffler and fellow American Wyndham Clark, US Open champion.

The results after the third round:
1. Viktor Hovland (NOR) 68-64-66
2. Xander Schaufelle (USA) 67-64-68
3. Keegan Bradley (USA) 63-67-70
