The Nothing Phone (2) campaign was featured at MWC Barcelona. Although the teaser was a bit vague and only talked about the speed fans can expect from the phone, a new post from the Qualcomm exec has confirmed the phone’s specifications. Of all places, the exec decided to give us a major leak on LinkedIn.
So, the leak was about the chipset that Nothing Phone (2) will come with. The leak comes from Alex Katouzian, who plays SVP and GM for Qualcomm’s Mobile, Compute and XR units. According to him, the next device will not contain the highest level of SoC.
No (2) phone will contain a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
On the professional networking platform, Qualcomm exec congratulated None on the launch of the upcoming Phone (2). And in the post, the exec explicitly mentioned that the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 will power the device. While the current flagship is launched with the eighth generation of the second generation, the all-new Nothing phone will stick to a chipset from the last generation.

However, the Phone (2) may not be shooting its image for being among this year’s flagships. Alternatively, his goal may be to be a leading assassin. And yes, even though the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a last-gen chipset, it delivers great performance.
Of course, the Phone 2 wouldn’t beat any benchmarks if it came with the 8+ of the first generation. However, you will not notice the difference if you are not performing any resource intensive tasks. Hopefully nothing can do it accordingly, which will make it offer more value than the current flagship.
