British police said they have arrested a suspect in the killing of 3 people in two accidents and wounding 3 in an attempt to run over a truck in Nottingham, central England. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described these incidents as shocking, while the Nottingham authorities closed many roads and suspended the tram network to investigate the circumstances of these incidents.

And Anadolu Agency reported that the British police found the three dead people on two streets in Nottingham, and that they suggested a link between the two killings and the truck run over, in which 3 others were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.

The Archyde.com news agency stated that the detainee was a 31-year-old man, adding that the Nottingham police found the three dead, and then learned shortly after that of the run-over accident that occurred in another place not far from where the dead were found.

Investigations into the circumstances

Nottingham Police Chief Kate Maynell said that what happened was “horrific and tragic”, adding that she believes there is a relationship between the three incidents, and that the investigations are in their early stages, as a team of investigators is working to determine the exact circumstances of what happened.

And the British Prime Minister expressed his shock at what happened, and said that he was constantly informed of developments regarding what happened in Nottingham, adding that “the police must be given time to do their work.”

Archyde.com reported that pictures posted on Twitter show cordoned off areas in Nottingham, and an extensive presence of emergency services and officers from various agencies, to coordinate police, ambulance and fire response.

Al-Jazeera correspondent in London, Mina Harblo, said that the Nottingham police closed 6 roads in the city, and the Public Transport Authority called on residents to find alternative ways to move around until the police investigations were completed. .
