Novak Djokovic Records First Win After Knee Surgery – 2024-07-05 21:41:11

NOVAK Djokovic said he was satisfied with his physical condition and the way he played following winning his first match following knee surgery and advancing to the second round of Wimbledon, Tuesday (2/7).

The Serbian is bidding to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles following defeating Vit Kopriva 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of the grasscourt Grand Slam.

The 37-year-old underwent surgery to repair a torn medial meniscus on June 5. Djokovic suffered the injury at the French Open.

In the second round of Wimbledon, Djokovic will face British wildcard Jacob Fearnley.

Wearing a knee brace on his right leg, Djokovic appeared to have no trouble once morest Kopriva.

“I tried to focus on the match and not think too much regarding my knee,” Djokovic said following the match.

“I’ve done everything I might for the last three weeks to be able to perform here. I think if it was any other tournament I wouldn’t have pushed myself but I love Wimbledon. I love playing here,” the 24-time Grand Slam winner added. (bbc/Z-1)
