Novak: EU easing speaks of the demand for Russian oil products

Russian oil products remain in demand in the countries of the European Union (EU), said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. According to him, this is confirmed by the fact that the EU has excluded oil products produced from Russian oil outside the Russian Federation from sanctions.

“This once again emphasizes that our oil products are in demand in Europe, since European politicians have indicated that their actions defy any logic, and they make such decisions and think about how to get out of this situation,” he told reporters (quoted by TASS) .

According to Mr. Novak, the withdrawal of a number of oil products from sanctions is the legalization of “gray” fuel supply schemes. He is convinced that the Russian oil industry will continue to function stably.

From December 5, 2022, the EU banned the import of Russian oil by sea with a number of exceptions, and also set a price ceiling for raw materials from the Russian Federation at $60 per barrel. Since February 5, similar sanctions have been in effect for Russian oil products. The price ceiling is set at $45 and $100 per barrel, depending on the type of product.
