(Keystone-ATS) The shareholder advisory organization Actares finds nothing wrong with Novartis’ performance last year, nor with the outlook for the future. The remuneration of decision-makers, on the other hand, raises eyebrows.

Multiplied by almost two to 16 million francs, the envelope allocated to the sole general director Vasant Narasimhan is more than five times higher than the ceiling of three million francs recommended as the upper limit by Actares, writes the latter in a press release on Monday .

The salary gap between the big boss and a qualified employee in production subsequently widened to reach an estimated ratio of 1:160.

The organization recommends that shareholders reject at the general meeting on March 5 all proposals related to the remuneration of both general management and the chairman of the board of directors Joerg Reinhardt, deemed inappropriate. The other points on the agenda, however, are not contested.
