Insiden tak terduga ini terjadi sekitar satu jam setelah lepas landas ketika seorang penumpang asal Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat, mengalami kontraksi hebat.
The quick thinking of the flight crew in seeking medical assistance proved vital in the unfolding emergency.
He wasn’t alone in his efforts; another nurse, two doctors, and the flight crew likewise assisted in delivering the baby safely.
The situation required a difficult decision. After the successful delivery, the captain and crew consulted and determined that an emergency landing in Jeddah was necessary to ensure both mother and child received comprehensive medical care at a nearby hospital, according to DetikHealth.
Febrian admitted to feeling both tense and elated, as this was his first experience assisting in a delivery mid-flight. His dedication came at a personal cost, as he had to forego his connecting flight from Jakarta to Surabaya.
The incident highlights the importance of having trained medical professionals among air travelers. The quick response of Febrian, along with the support of the other medical personnel and the Saudia Airlines crew, ensured a positive outcome in a challenging situation.
This remarkable event underscores the unpredictable nature of air travel and the critical role that individuals like Febrian play in ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers. The story serves as a testament to the dedication and skill of healthcare professionals, even when faced with extraordinary circumstances.
As of Sunday, March 15, 2026, details regarding the mother and baby’s condition after landing in Jeddah are still emerging. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
