London ∙ Nurses in government service in Britain will go on strike on December 15 and 20 to demand a pay rise. This is the first time in a century that the nurses’ union has gone on strike. This is in a situation where many discussions have been held with the government but no results have been seen.
Health Minister Steve Barclay has stated that the demand for nurses cannot be implemented in the midst of a severe financial crisis. Britain is facing the highest rate of inflation (11.1%) in 4 decades, driving the cost of living out of control. Meanwhile, when the nurses’ strike continues, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will be challenged.
