Female weightlifter Nurul Akmal became the 10th Indonesian athlete to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Nurul Akmal succeeded in ensuring that he qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after receiving a class quota reallocation of +81 kilograms,” said the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) as quoted from the Instagram account @kemenpora, Thursday (11/4).
The Ministry of Youth and Sports reported that there was a reallocation of the +81 kilogram class quota so that Nurul Akmal was confirmed to be the 10th athlete from Indonesia who would take part in the world’s highest sporting competition in Paris.
Previously, the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) stated that as many as 9 athletes had obtained tickets to compete in the Paris Olympics. They are weightlifters Eko Yuli Irawan and Rizky Juniansyah, archery athlete Arif Dwi Pangestu, and Diananda Choirunisa.
Apart from that, rock climbing athletes Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Rahmad Adi Mulyono, gymnastics athlete Rifda Irfanaluthfi, shooting athlete Fathur Gustafian, and surfing athlete Rio Waida.
KOI General Chair Raja Sapta Oktohari said that the number of athletes qualifying for the Paris Olympics still has a big chance of increasing. This is because several sports are still undergoing qualifications until June 2024.
“After all the branches have qualified, we will sit down together with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to determine the medal targets for the Olympics,” he said.

The Indonesian nation has always been a branch that has never failed to send its representatives and has always donated medals to the Olympics.
Oktohari also asked for the support of the Indonesian people so that weightlifters can donate gold medals to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
