Ort: WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, USA
First Aired: August 1, 2023 on the WWE Network

Today’s edition of NXT starts with a look back at the special “The Great American Bash” from Sunday night to Monday. Then we see new NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo arrive in the hall. However, they make the fatal mistake of pulling into the most dangerous parking lot in the wrestling business and are attacked by Gallus there. The new champions can still defend themselves briefly, but don’t have much to report against the majority.

In the hall, Jacy Jayne then storms over to Vic Joseph and takes over his headset for a moment. She informs the commentators and viewers that today she will finally close the chapter with Lyra Valkyria and this time no one would be able to hold her back. Valkyria then wants to go to the ring, but is attacked by Jayne early on on the ramp. Jayne dominates the short brawl which ends in the ring and the match between the two women can open the show.

Match time: 9:27

In the locker room, NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams discuss last Sunday’s title match. Williams then takes the floor, because Dragunov is now in Hayes’ rearview mirror. This is different for Williams, however, because Dragunov attacked him personally. He now wants to prove that he is not a sidekick of the champion. Hayes defeated Dragunov and now Williams wants to slaughter the “Mad Dragon”. Hayes respects this decision and supports his buddy, who promises not to miss and then leaves the room.

McKenzie Mitchell visits Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo in the exam room and asks them about their response to Gallus’ attack. The two, especially Tony D, are furious and promise revenge. So don’t let Gallus even think about leaving the arena today because they’re going to make a call and have a 6-man tag team match later!

NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio and Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley now see two of the three Judgment Day champions in the ring. They celebrate Dirty Dom’s win last Sunday and have few good words for Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali. Dominik bills himself as the man who revolutionized Lucha Libre and made the Mysterio name relevant. Dragon Lee does not want to let this lack of respect get away, who comes to the ring and Dom explains that it was not he, but rather his father, wrestling legend Rey Mysterio, who achieved the achievements Dirty Dom is adorning himself with here. He also challenges Dom to defend the North American Championship against him next week. After a brief consultation with his mom, Dom accepts the challenge, but makes it clear that he will not come alone, because Rhea Ripley is always by his side and everything he needs. Lee is prepared for this, because he will not compete alone either. He steps aside and Rey Mysterio appears on the screen. He proudly announces that he will be appearing on NXT next week and bringing the future of Lucha Libre to the ring in the form of Dragon Lee. He will happily watch his own son’s ass being spanked and the title taken away.

In the locker room, Carmelo Hayes is trying to get on the phone with Trick Williams when Wes Lee bursts into the room angrily. Hayes asks what’s going on, and Lee questions if Hayes even cares. Lee then spills his heart out that he’s lost his title and is on a roller coaster downhill at the moment. Hayes takes the floor and talks about his war with Dragunov on Sunday and how everyone is out to get him. In the meantime he could understand why Breakker had lost his mind at the time. The two are interrupted by Oro Mensah and Noam Dar, the latter proudly presents his “Heritage Cup” and explains that neither Lee nor Hayes will hold this trophy. Lee replies dryly that Lee isn’t the true champion either. Dar reiterates that Frazer didn’t defeat him in the ring, whereas Dominik defeated Mysterio Lee not once, but twice. Lee is about to counter something, but already has Mensah’s hand on his face and a brawl ensues between the two factions, which has to be broken up by other talents in the locker room.

Thea Hail, Andre Chase and MVP Duke Hudson have now joined McKenzie Mitchell. Mitchell asks how Hail is feeling after their tough match. Dejected, she explains that she gave everything in the ring and once again makes it clear that she didn’t give up because Andre Chase threw the towel into the ring. Chase steps in and confirms that Hail didn’t tap out, but he felt it was his duty to throw in the towel. Hail doesn’t agree at all with this decision when Baron Corbin steps in and calls the interview over. Chase should finally apologize for destroying Hail’s dreams and leave. But he finds it amusing that Corbin even had a chance to see the match when he was being herded around the arena by an Olympic gold medalist. Corbin promises to wipe the floor with Steveson at the next opportunity, but now he’s taking on the task Chase doesn’t want to take on. He goes down to Hail’s level and explains to her like a little girl that she failed and that after the defeat she should disappear and find something else. Chase steps in and won’t allow his student to be spoken to like that. Corbin tells him to do something about it, which Chase is happy to agree to before Corbin leaves the area. Chase lets Hail know that he doesn’t want her to be spoken to like that, but Hail doesn’t want to hear about it right now.

Dijak defeated Eddy Thorpe via pin after spinning big boot.
Match time: 4:25

Tony D’Angelo is on the phone backstage and Stacks joins them. D’Angelo promises his interlocutor on the phone that he needs his help and that they will be even after that. The answer seems to be positive and the two prepare for the upcoming match.

Dana Brooke and Kelani Jordan rewatch the kendo stick match between Brooke and Cora Jade. Dana Brooke admits she enjoyed venting all her frustrations on Jade. Jordan was also impressed with what Brooke was capable of with this staff. According to Brooke, it’s about time that Jordan also found some of this “killer instinct” in himself, because the gymnastic background is certainly helpful, but to be successful in the ring, she needs something more.

The following match occurred during the kickoff show of The Great American Bash. There, Yulisa León & Valentina Feroz competed alongside Dragon Lee and Nathan Frazer against Meta-Four, which Elektra Lopez & Lola Vice watched together. They didn’t think Feroz and León were capable of playing their own matches and winning, which they now want to prove.

Elektra Lopez & Lola Vice defeated Yulisa León & Valentina Feroz via pin by Lola Vice to Yulisa León after a spinning heel kick.
Match time: 3:30

Tiffany Stratton recently appeared on TikTok with a makeup tutorial in which she discussed the submission match against Thea Hail. She promises to be back on NXT next week.

4. Match
Tag Team Match
Meta-Four (Oro Mensah & Noam Dar, w/ Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson) defeated Wes Lee & NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes via a pin by Noam Dar on Wes Lee after the Nova Roller.
Match time: 7:15
– During the match, there were “Happy Birthday” chants for Carmelo Hayes, who is celebrating his 29th birthday in the ring today.
– Before the finish, Wes Lee accidentally hit Hayes with the cardiac kick after he was shoved in the lane by Oro Mensah.

As Meta-Four celebrate their triumph on stage, a fight erupts between Lee and Hayes in the ring. Hayes doesn’t hold a grudge for the kick and wants to leave the ring, but Lee stops him. It doesn’t matter to Hayes, but it matters a lot to Lee. Hayes is not interested in this argument, tells Lee to calm down and leaves the ring.

Bron Breakker speaks in a video for Von Wagner. He was absolutely effeminate and even this touching story of his life would not change that. Wagner should like to dare to look for him, but then he has to live with the consequences.

In the parking lot, Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio get upset about Dragon Lee’s cheekiness when Axiom confronts them and complains that Dominik’s lack of respect for his own father is unacceptable. Ripley and Dom seem confused as they just had this conversation in the ring. Axiom points out that Dragon Lee was in the ring earlier, not himself, which leaves Dom even more confused as to who is in front of him now. Ripley suspects a Power Ranger before Mustafa Ali arrives and confronts Dom. He wasn’t the man who was pinned on “The Great American Bash” and is therefore demanding a rematch, but Axiom doesn’t find it particularly offensive that Ali just interrupted him like that. The two have a brief discussion, meanwhile Dominik and Ripley part ways and Axiom addresses Ali’s disrespect towards him. But Ali doesn’t want to hear about it because he’s been treated disrespectfully here for over six years. Axiom should take care of the Heritage Cup or Scrypts, the North American title is his.

5. Match
Singles Match
Baron Corbin defeated Andre Chase (w/ Chase University: Duke Hudson & Thea Hail) via pin after the End of Days.
Match time: 5:17
– Thea Hail, normally energetic and unstoppable, looked very down after her loss to Tiffany Stratton at The Great American Bash and spent most of the match sitting around on the ring steps.
– Prior to the finish, Corbin Chase had a Boston crab in a single leg, comparable to the finish of Sunday’s women’s championship match. Thea Hail then threw the towel into the ring to loud chants, but the referee didn’t notice. Rather, Corbin grabbed the towel and threw it back at Hail. Hail stormed backstage and after Chase fought back, Corbin found an opportunity to win the match.

A video features hometown hero Roxanne Perez, who won a weapon wild match against Blair Davenport at the Great American Bash. Her family and her return to Texas are also in focus.

A vehicle drives up to the most dangerous parking lot in business, and an unrecognizable person gets out of it. Vic Joseph and Booker T suspect Tony D’Angelo and Stacks’ mysterious partner here.

Backstage, the Meta-Four celebrate their victory today as Lash Legend realizes that Dar just defeated the NXT Champion and even pinned the longest-reigning North American Champion. At this point, Tyler Bate steps in and explains that he is back from his meditative break, which he metaphorically spent under a rock. The four laugh at the pun while Bate is surprised that Dar is back with the Heritage Cup. However, Dar and his entourage insist that the trophy was never lost. So Bate sees the need for a new opponent for Dar and throws his own hat in the ring. So he points to the plaques on the trophy, which bear Dars and his own name, and then disappears to make the match official.

In the ring, Schism are now fully cast and with six other masked members in the background. Gacy and Ava discuss the importance of Schism and the fact that its members are important branches of the Schism Tree. But last week two masked members laid their hands on The Dyad and they will not be tolerated. Therefore, the masked persons should step forward one after the other and take off their masks. The first two persons follow and are of no further importance. The third person, on the other hand, turns away at first and takes off his mask as well as his black hoodie. A colourful, open shirt appears and Ikemen Jiro grins happily at the camera. The four investigators are not happy about this and quickly chase the Japanese out of the ring. The fourth participant doesn’t seem to be of any interest, as Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler already seem to have found the culprits with the last two people. In fact, the last two gentlemen are strikingly Creed Brothers in stature, and Fowler and Reid now confront them with the audacity to stand here in peace of mind and watch. Suddenly they launch an attack on the two hooded men and rip their masks off their heads, but unlike expected, the Creed Brothers aren’t there either. Instead, they now appear in a video on the screen, where they are comfortably sitting on the beach. They say they left NXT after the Loser Leaves NXT match and are now having the time of their lives while on vacation. They’ve also been to the Pyramids and Easter Island, changing the backgrounds to match. But her favorite location is still the beach in Fiji… Hawaii… wherever, but definitely not in Orlando. They toast the holiday together and the video ends. Reid and Fowler are furious in the ring and want to take their frustration out on the two men, but Gacy and Ava step in and protect their supporters. Gacy takes the floor and calls on his followers worldwide to seek, find and hand over the Creed Brothers.

Last week: In the women’s locker room, Cora Jade bursts into her closet and says she can’t believe RAW’s Dana Brooke came to NXT and stole her spotlight. She’s had enough and wants to leave. In front of annoyed colleagues, she packs up her things, grabs her fan mail and leaves. Although… the fans are annoying anyway, which is why she throws the letters behind her and then storms away. She concludes by wishing the rest of the locker room the best of luck, because that’s what they would need-

Next week Dominik Mysterio will jeopardize his North American Championship against Dragon Lee. However, the benefit of having Rhea Ripley by his side will be offset next week as Lee is joined to the ring by Rey Mysterio. Von Wagner also wants to take on Bron Breakker. Mustafa Ali meets Axiom after the discussion in the parking lot while Tyler Bate followed his words and will receive a match for Noam Dar’s copy of the NXT Heritage Cup.

Gallus are now heading to the ring for the main event. Certainly because of their numerical superiority, they want revenge on their conquerors. New NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo come out and Tony D explains he called an old friend… before Santos Escobar comes out to join the two! The D’Angelo family is reunited and the three of them storm the ring!

6. Match
6-Man Tag Team Match
NXT Tag Team Champions Tony D’Angelo & Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo & Santos Escobar defeated Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) via Tony D’Angelo pinning Mark Coffey after the bada-bing.
Match time: 9:19

The victors celebrate their triumph over Gallus and despite their past quarrels, the three seem to get along very well. A hug and handshake ensues before Santos Escobar relinquishes the stage to the Tag Team Champions.

Finally, here’s a look back at the way Ilya Dragunov lost to Carmelo Hayes on Sunday. So he wanted to hit Hayes with the torpedo Moscow outside the ring, but Hayes was able to dodge and instead the attack caught Trick Williams and especially the NXT Championship, which Williams was holding. Dragunov heard Williams’ words earlier and is happy because this willingness to fight is mutual. He’ll get his hands on Williams and won’t let him go until he’s completely broken. Today’s edition of NXT ends with an angry Dragunov.
