Heavy Snowfall Expected Across Capital Region
The National Weather Service issued a report early Saturday morning predicting heavy snowfall across parts of the Capital Region. The advisory, issued at 12:23 a.m.,is in effect until 1:30 a.m. and covers Montgomery, Schoharie, Schenectady, Albany, and Rensselaer counties.

Several major highways are expected to be impacted, including portions of Interstate 88 between exits 22 and 24, Interstate 90 between exits 10 and 24, Interstate 87 between exits 23 and 2, and Interstate 787 between exits 1 and 6.
Timing of the Snowfall
The heaviest snowfall is expected to move through the following areas and times:
- duanesburg, Altamont, Sharon Springs, and Delanson around 12:30 a.m.
- Albany, Colonie, Guilderland, and Central Bridge around 12:35 a.m.
- Voorheesville around 12:40 a.m.
- Delmar around 12:45 a.m.
- Cobleskill, Menands, and Schoharie around 12:50 a.m.
- Rensselaer around 12:55 a.m.
- East Greenbush around 1 a.m.
- West Sand Lake around 1:05 a.m.
Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution. “Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations,” the weather service warned. “Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination. Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this area of heavy snow. Rapid changes in visibility and perhaps slick roads may lead to accidents.”
