After sunset today, moving towards the beginning of the night, the growing crescent moon will be observed near Jupiter, the giant of our solar system, on the western horizon in a beautiful view that is easily visible to the naked eye.

The head of the Astronomical Society in Jeddah, Engineer Majid Abu Zahra, stated that the moon and Jupiter will reach the moment of conjunction at 9:12 pm Mecca time, and will be separated by only 4.71 degrees, indicating that the presence of the moon near Jupiter means at the dome of the sky only, as they are not close to each other in Space: The Moon is only about 367,667 kilometers away from us, while Jupiter is more than 883 million kilometers away.

Abu Zahra pointed out that Jupiter is the fourth brightest object in the dome of the sky after the sun, the moon, and Venus, and it will appear as a bright white dot to the observer with the naked eye, and when observed through binoculars or a small telescope, he will see the planet’s disk and around it its four large moons, which are known as the “Galileo moons.” : Ganmede, Callisto, Europa, Iowa – they appear as small points of light near Jupiter.

It is noteworthy that by observing the position of the moon at the same time the next day, one will notice that it has moved away from Jupiter and descended towards the eastern horizon, which is its natural movement in its orbit around the Earth.
