Ocean Park has a brand new pavilion! The “Sloths and Friends” exhibition hall located on Hong Kong Main Street not only has the cute sloth father and son “Yingmu” and “Sonic” meeting the public, the exhibition hall combines AI (artificial intelligence) technology, and visitors can generate Classic paintings such as “Mona Lisa” and “The Scream” with sloths as the main characters. Ocean Park hopes to use the new pavilion to promote the message of animal conservation and raise public awareness; not only the conservation of whales, but also the living environment of other species.

The pavilion was formerly known as the “Australian Adventures” pavilion. The South Australian koalas in the pavilion have been transported to the British Wildlife Park, while the kingfishers and wallabies have been relocated to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. The new residents of the new pavilion include two two-toed sloths aged 13 and 8 respectively. Their father Yingmu came to Singapore and their son Sonic was born in Hong Kong. The park pointed out that the sloth sleeps 15 hours a day, and if you want to see its moving appearance, you can participate in the “Meet the sloth” session held at 3 pm every day, and the nurses will also share its living habits; There are 4 sloths. In addition to “Yingmu” father and son, his wife and daughter meet visitors in the Tropical Rainforest Pavilion and the Bird Theater respectively.

In addition, there is an art gallery in the exhibition hall, where you can enjoy a series of animal paintings generated by AI, including the extinct western black rhinoceros and the critically endangered indigo-crested babbler. At the same time, there is also an interactive device generated by AI drawings, visitors can easily create their own AI drawings of animals. The special area in the museum introduces the conservation work of the professional animal team involved in the park, including how to deal with the breeding, rescue, and release of animals, as well as how to follow up and investigate the stranding of cetaceans in Hong Kong waters.
Huang Sihui, CEO of Ocean Park Corporation, said that the new exhibition hall uses the concept of an art museum and incorporates AI technology to introduce rare species included in the “Red List of Threatened Species” published by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
