The Ukrainian city of Odessa has received five ambulances from the city of Vienna. The head of the regional military administration, Oleh Kipper, announced this via telegram, as the Ukrinform news agency reported on Friday night. “On October 23, 2023, Vienna’s mayor Michael Ludwig handed over five intensive care transport vehicles for Odessa. They have already arrived in the city today,” it said. According to Kipper, Vienna has been providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine for many years.

According to the military administration, the ambulances will be used “for the needs of the regional center for emergency medical care and disaster medicine in Odessa.” Kiper: “The ambulances are currently going through the registration process and will then be put into service.”

The Vienna City Hall announced at the beginning of the week that a total of nine emergency vehicles would be made available to Ukraine on Monday, including four fire engines from the City of Vienna. The vehicles were transferred to Košice (Kaschau) in Slovakia, where they were handed over to the Ukrainian civil defense authorities for onward transport to Ukraine.
