OFFICE OUTFITS IN SUMMER – Martina Berg

Since Corona, most companies have dispensed with mandatory dress codes for their employees. This has many advantages, but just as many disadvantages if you take a closer look at our companies. Men with hairy legs in shorts, women with unkempt feet in flip flops, interns in outfits like they’re about to go to the beach. These are certainly not office outfits for the summer.

Many forget that the right outfit is often decisive for how your career can continue, or not. With a stylish business outfit, we leave a positive impression on customers, supervisors and younger colleagues. And that is ultimately decisive for our effect on our counterpart.

With the right outfit, we radiate optical competence

Everyone should know by now that we shouldn’t dress in the office in summer like we do on vacation. I’m just wondering why so many employees let themselves go like this? You don’t have to spend a lot of money to combine a suitable outfit for the office. I’m sure everyone has a blazer, a skirt, some nice pants and some shirts in their closet. This is to combine, clean regularly and wear more often instead of resorting to a beach outfit for the office.

The trouser suit in summer

The undisputed number 1 is and remains the trouser suit. The all-rounder has received enormous popularity this year. I’ve been a big fan of two-piece suits for decades. Trouser suits are available in light materials for the summer. Linen is particularly popular and looks very chic with pastel tones. But other materials are also breathable and extremely comfortable. I pay attention to a pleasant mix of materials for many of my pantsuits.

In summer, the popular two-piece suit can be combined with an airy silk blouse or a shirt. A chic sandal looks just as good with an all-rounder as a Muhle or a chic moccasin. A splash of color or an eye-catcher can be achieved with a special bag that repeats the pattern of the pumps.

The light and airy suitcase dress

Clothes that are breathable and don’t stick to the skin are ideal for warm days. With a light sleeve, they are a great office outfit, especially in air-conditioned rooms. My dress can be worn loose with or without a belt. This is an option for all ladies who have an O body shape. If you want to emphasize the waist, a flexible belt is a good choice. If it gets too warm, you can tie it more loosely. I have this type of belt in many colors because they look great with dresses.

The sheath dress with a matching blazer

Anyone who is active as an executive, managing director or entrepreneur cannot avoid a stylish sheath dress. It is always the right choice when we present ourselves to customers and business partners. A sheath dress is a dress that showcases our femininity. I often combine it with a matching blazer, as it is often too cool for me in many meeting rooms. In addition, the upper arms are covered, which I don’t always want to show so revealingly.

With this outfit, it is important to me that stockings are worn, even if the temperatures are a bit hotter.

The airy shirt dress

If the office look in a company is more casual, a timeless shirt dress looks good. We definitely can’t go wrong with this type of dress. If the dress code in the company is not too conservative, the stockings can be left at home. Even if the dress code is casual, flip-flops should never be worn in the office, even if many others do.

Dress for the business look in summer

A shirt dress has many advantages. I like wearing this type of dress as a substitute for a coat. White jeans and a top underneath are a great casual look. Black and white basic parts can be advantageously combined with a black and white dress. Be sure to try it out with your shirt dress. You’ll find it’s a great alternative look for leisure or vacations.

This is not part of a neat office outfit

No matter what your office outfit looks like in summer. A few unwritten rules should definitely be heeded:

  • Shorts should not be worn by women or men in the office.
  • Deep necklines on shirts or summer dresses do not belong in the office.
  • Bare tops are wearable in your free time, and only there, if you have the right figure.
  • Jeans with holes are not part of the summer office outfit.
  • See-through blouses or tops can be used in evening wear.
  • Uncared feet in open shoes or Aldi-Letten – an absolute no go.

The office outfit in summer

Office outfits in summer have suffered an enormous loss of style since Corona. I cannot understand why this is so. How is it in your office? What is allowed, welcome or should be avoided at all costs?

I look forward to a lively exchange with you and hope that we ladies will remain true to our good style and chic clothes in summer.

Take care of me – see you very soon!
sincerely
