Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Ultra, pushing the boundaries of smartphone design and innovation. The latest iteration boasts a refined aesthetic, enhanced performance fueled by a custom snapdragon chipset, and a focus on durability and user experience.
The S25 Ultra departs from the sharp, rectangular design of its predecessors, embracing a more ergonomic profile with rounded corners and flat sides. This design language aligns the Ultra model with the S25 and S25 Plus, creating a cohesive family aesthetic.
Slimmed-Down Bezels, Larger Display
Samsung has meticulously refined the bezels, shrinking them by 0.2mm too a mere 1.32mm. This meticulous attention to detail allows for a larger 6.9-inch display while maintaining comfortable grip. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Armor 2,a more drop-resistant glass ceramic material, and features a unique anti-reflective coating exclusive to the Ultra model.
Lightweight Yet Durable
The S25 Ultra not only appears sleeker but also feels lighter in hand, shedding 14 grams compared to its predecessor and slimming down by 0.4mm to an 8.2mm thickness. durability is also enhanced through the use of thicker camera rings and a redesigned cooling system featuring a 40% larger vapor chamber.
Refined Camera Design
The camera rings, a distinctive feature of the Ultra series, have undergone a transformation. Samsung has opted for a black trim rather of silver, allowing the lenses to blend seamlessly into the design. This change, coupled with the thicker rings, emphasizes both style and durability.
“Going for a black trim instead of a silver one allows the lenses to blend in better, while the thicker camera rings improve durability.”
These design refinements are further showcased in a “Guided Demo of performance” video by Samsung, which highlights the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, the improved cooling system, and the phone’s enhanced durability. Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Interview with Mohammad Hamza, Design Director at Samsung Mobile
The Refined Aesthetic of the Galaxy S25 Ultra
Archyde News: The Galaxy S25 Ultra has undergone a notable design overhaul. Can you take us through the changes and the inspiration behind them?
Mohammad Hamza: Absolutely. We wanted to create a cohesive family aesthetic for the Ultra model, so we’ve aligned it with the S25 and S25 Plus. the rounded corners and flat sides make it more ergonomic and cozy to hold.
Slimmed-Down Bezels and a Larger Display
Archyde News: The bezel size has been reduced by 0.2mm,allowing for a larger display. How did you achieve this, and what does it mean for users?
Mohammad Hamza: we spent a lot of time refining the bezels to make them thinner without compromising durability. At 1.32mm, they’re among the smallest in the industry. This allows us to increase the display size to 6.9 inches, providing users with more screen real estate for a better multimedia experience.
Durability and Performance
archyde News: The S25 Ultra feels lighter and yet more durable. Tell us about the materials and engineering that enabled this balance.
Mohammad Hamza: We’ve used Gorilla Glass Armor 2 for the display, which is more drop-resistant. The camera rings are thicker for enhanced durability, and we’ve redesigned the cooling system to be 40% larger. These changes provide a more robust yet lighter device.
Archyde News: In your opinion, what sets the Galaxy S25 Ultra apart from its predecessors and competitors in terms of build quality and performance?
Refined camera Design
Archyde News: The camera design has changed noticeably. What drove this decision?
Mohammad Hamza: We wanted the cameras to blend in better with the design, so we switched to a black trim instead of silver. The thicker camera rings not only look good but also enhance durability. It’s all about combining style and functionality.
Looking Ahead
Archyde News: What can we expect next from Samsung in terms of smartphone design and innovation?
Mohammad Hamza: you’ll have to stay tuned to find out! But I can assure you, we’re always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what’s possible in smartphone design and technology.
Thank you, Mohammad, for your insights into the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
