A 28-year-old young man, attached to the Lara State Police, was injured in the head, while they tried to rob him on 38th Street, in the city of Barquisimeto.
The event occurred at night, when the official was on his way to his home.
According to La Prensa de Lara, criminals on Empire motorcycles intercepted him and demanded that he stop. The police officer did not listen to the demand and followed his route, but at that moment a firearm was fired at him.
The shot hit him and the citizen fell with a head wound.
A neighbor in the sector observed him lying on the floor and took him to the Emergency Department of the Antonio María Pineda Central Hospital, where he was treated.
The Polilara is already out of danger, according to reports.
The man belongs to the canine operations unit, added the regional media.
