The presidency said on its website that Qasim-Jomart Tokayev signed this law, which includes constitutional amendments that also specify the term of office of the President of the Republic at seven years, non-renewable, after it was five years, subject to renewal. On Friday, the Kazakh parliament approved these amendments.
The Kazakh presidency said in a statement that the decision was made in accordance with Article 9 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 8, 1993 “on the territorial administrative structure of the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
