Oil Pollution in Warche River: Causes, Impacts, and Remedies

Significant pollution of the Warche was noted this Thursday in Malmedy, indicates the municipality on its Facebook page. An individual’s oil tank which cracked was the cause of the pollution.

The fuel oil enters the river at Bévercé, informs the municipality which specifies that the environmental police went to the site. Around midday, firefighters were mobilized to place roadblocks and absorbent product near Bévercé and the police headquarters in Malmedy.

Although many liters of hydrocarbons were recovered, local authorities recommend refraining from eating fish caught in the Warche.
