Okon: There is some fundamental problem with the car.

In the course of the weekend, Esteban Ocon failed to get the most out of the car – he does not understand what is happening …

Esteban Ocon: “The qualification was terrible. We should be fighting for sixth or seventh place, but at some point in the third training session I ended up last. I do not understand what is going on. In Austria, I finished fifth, and here in the free races I ended up in the last rows.

We tried to understand why the results are not as expected, but there is no answer. There is probably some fundamental problem with the machine to be found.

Our novelties work as intended, but the behavior of the machine changes at each stage. Like a rollercoaster. At Silverstone, the car was uncompetitive, but worked well in Austria. She either works or she doesn’t.

In the past, when such problems arose, following one or two Grand Prix, we found a broken part, changed it, and everything was getting better. But now we can’t find the reason. Obviously, in the fight for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship, one cannot afford such failures. A solution must be found.”
