The general meeting unanimously elected a new board.

Vienna (OTS) – The general assembly of the ÖKV unanimously elected Philipp Ita as the new president on March 23, 2024. The election proposal for the board was also accepted without any dissenting votes. In the future, the ÖKV will stand for healthy, well-trained and socially acceptable dogs in Austria, take measures to ensure quality and also promote public dialogue.

The new board and President Ita have presented an ambitious package of measures for the next four years. Ita says: “Our primary goal is a united and strong appearance of the ÖKV for the dog industry in Austria. The ÖKV will appear as a modern, open, objective and solution-oriented association and bring its professional expertise into the discourse about the dog industry. We will be a powerful one and reliable advocacy for all responsible people in dog breeding and keeping,
-training and sports and being available as a contact person for dog questions.”

In the future, the ÖKV will create its own working groups if necessary in order to promote rapid solution finding and advance various projects. The board will also strive to modernize the structure and all areas in order to ensure a modern dog industry in Austria. Part of this will be work at an international level to contribute to the further development of a sustainable and contemporary canine system. All measures are aimed at breeding, keeping and training healthy dogs that are suitable for everyday use.

In the interests of animal health, the board has also announced an ambitious campaign against illegal breeding and the illegal trade in dogs. “These practices are a clear violation of the law. They also go against our goal, namely the highest possible health for dogs in Austria,” emphasizes Ita.

Dr. Michael Kreiner has made the decision not to run for president of the ÖKV anymore. “On behalf of the board of the ÖKV, I would like to thank him very much for his many years of extraordinary commitment and his commitment to the dog industry in Austria and on an international level. Dr. Michael Kreiner has always carried out his various functions in the ÖKV with tireless dedication and passion and has worked on a voluntary basis with heart, mind and, above all, great specialist knowledge for the concerns of dog owners, breeders, trainers and athletes says Ita. Dr. For this, Michael Kreiner was awarded the ÖKV’s highest award with the title of “Honorary President”.
