Olaplex products are facing a class action lawsuit in the United States in which the plaintiffs accuse the brand of causing them to lose their hair.

According to the lawsuit, consumers claim that Olaplex products contain “dangerous” chemicals that can cause “serious injuries.”
In the 61-page document presented in federal court in the Central District of California last Thursday, people who used these products claim to have suffered several problems, reports Business Insider.
Hair loss, weakened, brittle hair, burns on the scalp, and even wounds after using the products, support people.
“Far from repairing and protecting the hair from damage, the products instead left the complainants’ hair dry, brittle, frizzy and dull,” the complaint states. “The hair split and broke causing it to appear unkempt and as if it had been cut with weed killer,” the suit reads.

The applicants also claim that Olaplex products contain lilial, a product used in the cosmetics industry, but banned in the European Union.
Olaplex previously said it removed lilial from its products and produced a new formula.
Two dozen consumers are part of this class action and are asking for at least $75,000 in damages.
Olaplex has denied the customers’ claims.
“OLAPLEX products do not cause hair loss or breakage,” a company spokesperson told Insider.
“We fully trust and believe in the safety and efficacy of our products which are thoroughly tested in-house and by independent third-party labs.”
