Old Christmas trees are collected on January 15th

Association in Wadersloh, Diestedde and Liesborn want to collect old Christmas trees on January 15th. The process is changing due to Corona.

Wadersloh / Diestedde / Liesborn (gl) – A Christmas tree collection will take place on Saturday, January 15, again with a different schedule. For many years the association year for the Kolping Family and the Rural Youth (KLJB) in Wadersloh, for the Parish Youth (KjG) in Liesborn and for the Schützenverein in Diestedde has started with the collection of disused Christmas trees.

A cherished tradition

According to the press release, the clubs did not want to completely cancel this cherished tradition in 2022 either. The responsible representatives therefore agreed at an early stage and this year, too, they will fall back on the joint concept that was tried and tested in 2021, with which a Christmas tree collection can take place despite the corona-related framework conditions. An essential element of the Christmas tree collection this year should therefore be that the helpers will only collect the trees. These should therefore be clearly visible on the streets by 9 a.m. at the latest on Saturday, January 15, because the doorbell does not ring as usual. There will be no house collection for solicited donations.

Associations hope for donations

Since the associations still hope for donations, alternatives have been worked out for each district: In order to minimize contact, those responsible ask that the helpers do not receive any donations directly when collecting trees. If possible, donations should not be attached to the trees, as they could be overlooked. In Wadersloh, the helpers will start at 9 a.m. to collect the Christmas trees. The Kolping Family and the KLJB want to donate the net proceeds of the Christmas tree collection to the forest kindergarten in Nettersheim this year. The kindergarten was badly affected by the devastating flood. The former group leader of the Kolping Family, Christian Höwekamp, has lived in a district of Nettersheim for years and has reported on the emergency of the facility. He will personally hand over the donation proceeds, so that, according to the message, every cent reaches those affected.

So that the children of the Nettersheim forest kindergarten can look forward to a high donation amount, the following ways of making a donation are available: Transfer to an account of the Kolping Family (Sparkasse Beckum-Wadersloh – IBAN DE 73 4125 0035 0091 6061 78), transfer via PayPal ( www.paypal.me/tannenbaumkolping or [email protected]) or a contact-free delivery on January 15 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the parish hall in Wadersloh. In addition, between Saturday, January 8th and until Saturday, January 15th, donation boxes are available in the Sparkasse and Volksbank in Wadersloh as well as in the Wadersloh branches of the Goeken and Hölkemann bakeries. For questions about the Christmas tree collection in Wadersloh, Stefan Wapelhorst is available on 0171/5493895.

In Liesborn the start is at 9 a.m.

In Liesborn, the helpers will also start at 9 a.m. The proceeds from the campaign will benefit the association’s youth work this year. Donations can be transferred to the account of the KjG (Volksbank Beckum-Lippstadt DE87416601242801310203 – GENODEM1LPS). In addition, donation cans are available in the Scholhölter bakery between January 10th and January 17th. Oliver Smeenk answers questions (email: [email protected]).

In Diestedde there are helpers from the rifle club

In Diestedde, the helpers of the shooting club will start at 10 a.m. The members ask for a small contribution for the youth company as well as for the further equipment of the children’s playground. Donations can be made in the following ways: Between January 10th and 15th, donation cans will be available in the Diestedder branches of the Schwichtenhövel bakeries, the Hölkemann’s country bakery and the Schröder petrol station and beverages.

The collection campaign can also be supported by a bank transfer: Volksbank Beckum Lippstadt eG IBAN: DE04 4166 0124 0505 2440 00, keyword “Christmas tree campaign”. For questions about the Christmas tree collection in Diestedde, Nico Westarp is available on 0170/5521003. Those responsible for the association hope for a lot of donations.
